Fighting Bowie - BSF302
BSF302- FIGHTING BOWIE – Signet Series
Practically everyone has heard of Jim Bowie who in 1827 achieved fame with a victory over his sword cane wielding opponent with a large fighting knife.
The Sand Bar Duel, as it came to be known, is famous. But the style of knife Jim used that day is legendary: The Bowie.
Jim Bowie, along with Davie Crockett and William Travis, fought bravely and died with dignity at the Last Stand fight in Alamo, Texas in 1836.
Inspired by these well documented events of American history, Harald designed this modern version of the Fighting Bowie knife.
This Bowie is a massive 15” overall and weighs a full 2 pounds. The ¼” thick and 9 ½” long blade is made from a superior 440-C surgical stainless steel that is custom heat treated and tempered to a perfect Rockwell hardness of 59.
The blade has a satin finish on the flat part of the blade and has a superior mirror finish on the bevels, clip (false edge) and back. The cutting edge is razor sharp.
The Moeller Signet Series crest has been etched on the blade.
The handle is designed to accommodate both a full fisted stabbing grip and a thumb forward fighting grip.
The brass guard is a full 5” featuring blade blocking “fighting lugs” - brass being ideal for blocking as it will stop an opponents blade without glancing off.
The pommel and the centre spacer is also brass, highlighted by a red fibre liner.
The handle material is carved from a single piece of pristine, cream coloured, 20,000 year old woolly mammoth ivory.
This is a Signet Series knife and comes with a Signet Series Certificate.
This Bowie is custom fitted in a solid walnut glass topped display case.
Truly a very unique collectors item.
